5 times when Kareena Kapoor landed in controversies courtesy hubby Saif Ali Khan

As much as Kareena Kapoor wishes to keep miles away from controversies, they find their way back to her.

Saifeena have courted several controversies since they got married in 2012
Interestingly, most of her run-ins with controversies have happened after her marriage to Saif Ali Khan. Seems like the Nawab, who has the knack of attracting unwanted attention pulls in his lovely wife too every time. Here's looking at a few controversies Kareena has been part of, courtesy hubby Saif Ali Khan.
1.The first time when Kareena courted any political controversy was in 2009. Shiv Sena and other Hindu groups protested against the bare-back poster of her film Kurbaan co-starring Saif Ali Khan. They right-wing groups demanded ban on the film and defaced the posters in parts of the country.

2. In 2012, Kareena invited ire of many people when she decided to marry Saif Ali Khan in 2012. The couple was trolled, abused and threatened by extremists on the internet. They even accused Kareena of converting to Islam, which the couple had to put on record that Kareena did not convert. Last year, Saif wrote an opinion piece in a leading daily about inter-caste marriages, following a particular religion and his disbelief on 'Love Jihad', in an attempt to clear airs about his marriage with Kareena.
3. Kareena made news again after Saif got into scuffle with a NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma on February 22, 2012 at a restaurant in Mumbai's Taj Hotel. During the altercation, Saif was accompanied by Kareena, her sister Karisma, her best friend Amrita Arora, and Amrita's sister Malaika Arora Khan.

4. Earlier this year, the actress found her self at the cente of campaign against 'love jihad' run by the Durga Vahini, the women's wing of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). A photo of Kareena's face, half-covered by a naqab that partly obscures the bindi on her forehead was used as the cover image of the magazine run by the Durga Vahini. The campaign allegedly hopes to 'reconvert' Hindu women who are married to Muslim men. Durga Vahini reportedly used Kareena's image because 'the youth want to emulate celebrities.'

5. Talking about the latest, Kareena looked pretty miffed when asked about the controversy surrounding Padma Shri honour to Saif Ali Khan, at a fashion event. Saif's Padma Shri, which he received in 2010, was called into question by RTI activist S C Agrawal demanding that the actor be stripped of the award as a Mumbai court had framed charges against him for alleged assault. Kareena on Monday said that the honour was "bestowed" upon him and that he would be "okay" with giving it back.
The government had rejected the demand saying, "It would be unfair to strip a person with outstanding achievement in a field just because he is convicted in a case relating to a minor scuffle.
Call it irony or what, Kareena, one of the most apolitical Bollywood personalities ends up in a political row more often than others.

Saif Ali Khan in a legal battle over Bhopal property

saif ali khan

Saif Ali Khan may be the son of a reputed cricketer and veteran actress, but the actor has been facing issues over his royal legacy. Also known as the Nawab of Pataudi who inherited the title after the death of his father, is now facing issues over his property worth thousand crores, in Bhopal.
Saif Ali Khan’s ancestral property, which was ideally inherited by his late grandmother Sajida Sultan has now come under the scrutiny of the Union Home Ministry who has decided to exercise control over it under the Enemy Property Act 1968. According to the investigation conducted by OCEP (Office of Custodian of Enemy Property), the assets inherited by Saif from his grandmother Sajida ideally did not belong to her. In the sense, the real heir for the Bhopal property was Abida, sister of Sajida who had migrated to Pakistan and hence, Sajida became the successor.
Her successorship was challenged in court by the other members of her family and now the thousand crore property including cottages, palaces and land spread across the city and other areas of Madhya Pradesh will be treated as enemy property and a vesting certificate (claiming that Sajida and her successors had vested control over them) was issued in February.
From what we hear, Saif Ali Khan is busy sorting the legal matter and he has also been asked to submit the merger agreement copy between the last ruling Nawab and Indian Union. However, neither Saif Ali Khan nor Sharmila Tagore have gone public about the matter and refused to divulge any details on the same.
