Phantom box office collection: Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif's thriller mints Rs 33 crore in 3 days

Katrina Kaif in a still from Phantom

Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif's Phantom has had a cracker of a weekend at the box office. In its first three days, the Kabir Khan film has netted Rs 33.18 crore in India. The film had opened to Rs 8.46 crore. Phantom hit the screens on July 28, and ever since, has seen growing footfall in theatres.
Based on the 26/11 Mumbai Attacks, Phantom deals with Daniyal Khan (Saif Ali Khan) playing a wronged ex-Indian Army officer who is roped in for a mission to kill all four masterminds of the attacks. Because of its controversial subject, Phantom was met with a ban in Pakistan. Jama'at-ud-Daw'ah chief Hafiz Saeed, who has a character playing him in Phantom, had moved court asking for the film to not be released in Pakistan. A few days after Saeed's plea, the Lahore High Court ordered a ban on Phantom in the country.

Mr Saif Ali Khan, your marketing stunt has worked wonders for your film!

So Mr Saif Ali Khan has responded to the Pakistani ban on his upcoming film, Phantom. It is an obvious publicity stunt in order to gain more views and hype on his film. And yes, the hype has been created!
It’s a shame considering he has been one of the most loved actors among the Pakistani audience. What now? Has he thought about the fact that he might lose millions of Pakistani fans? Has he considered how Pakistanis would feel about his so-called “truthful” statements? I’m sure he has. That’s why he’s posted those statements, in order to create more curiosity with regards to the film. As we know, controversy works pretty well for a film, and yes, I’m sure Mr. Khan knows that pretty well himself.
He’s mentioned in his interview that Pakistanis are going to watch his film anyway on pirated DVDs. So if he’s that laid back about the whole situation, then why is he so offended? It’s not like India has never banned any of our films. And why is he complaining if he knew his film is based on a very sensitive topic that holds strong potential of offending the Pakistani audience?
Again, I personally feel it’s all about creating controversy and getting the “political” views across. It’s a shame he had the unnecessary urge to rant about his past films being banned in Pakistan this way. I must say, Mr. Khan, if a Pakistani public figure said something negative about India, I’m sure chaos would’ve ensued and films related to it would’ve been made 10 times, with the highest level of exaggeration and negativity.
On the brighter side, it’s an absolute pleasure to read the comments Pakistanis worldwide have posted all around social media in response to Mr. Khan’s comments. It’s natural to feel upset if someone targets your country, but maybe we should think twice before opening our mouths (or pressing enter), especially if it’s an issue between India and Pakistan where peace has always been an issue, and hatred has always been the preferred option.

Phantom': A treat for action movie lovers

'Phantom': A treat for action movie lovers

Film: "Phantom"
Language: Hindi;
Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub;
Director: Kabir Khan;
Rating: ***
"Phantom" is aimed at stirring the patriotic fervour in every Indian making them feel good, as the death of innocents in the 26/11 carnage in Mumbai is avenged.
Loosely based on S. Hussain Zaidi's book, "Mumbai Avengers", the film is a fictionalised version of how the masterminds of the terrorist attack are eliminated, albeit unofficially.
Disgraced after the attack and humiliated with the terror operation, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), a primary foreign intelligence agency of India, opts for "an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth" approach to beat the opponents at their own game.
Roy (Sabyasachi Chakrabarty), the head of RAW and his team search for the perfect candidate for this secret mission.
They zero down to Daniyal Khan (Saif Ali Khan) an ex-Army officer who has been court martialled and dismissed from the armed services on grounds of abandoning his battalion at a crucial time. As he lives a life of anonymity in the remote wastelands of the Himalayas, they feel he is the perfect foil for their mission.
They cajole Daniyal to accept the assignment. Seething under his ignominy and longing to get back his lost honour, Daniyal agrees. He is then introduced to Nawaz Mistry (Katrina Kaif), an agent working with Darkwater, a security consulting firm that works closely with RAW.
London, Chicago, Jordan, Beirut, Syria and finally Pakistan, are the places he travels to, assuming various identities, as part of his mission, which he successfully executes, assisted by Nawaz.
With a cursory mention of Daniyal's background and parents, his projection as the Phantom lacks conviction as a character. But, Saif portrays Daniyal Khan effectively, looking sincere and determined. He indulges in some high-octane action for a change.
Katrina as Nawaz Mistry, is more than a femme fatale. She supports him ably with a decent performance and some exciting stunts.
Sabyasachi adds nothing new to his character, whereas Ayyub shines as the young assistant in RAW even in his limited screen time.
It is the lesser known actors who are convincing with their realistic performances. The boy Shehzad, eager to get married and the nurse who helps the duo in Pakistan, make an impact.
While the premise of the film seems flimsy and far-fetched, the one-dimensional motive of arousing patriotic sentiments makes the script weak and unconvincing. Also, the smoothness and ease with which the hero eliminates each target on his mission, making it look like child's play, seem illogical and consequently amateurish.
Director Kabir Khan has interestingly executed the film with a fair amount of thrill and adventure. He ensures the adrenaline rush with the snappy screenplay with most of the shots lasting not more than five seconds each, Sham Kaushal's well choreographed action sequences and Aseem Mishra's brilliantly captured cinematography.
The setting and locales seem authentic and are beautifully captured transporting the audience to different places.
The music is incidental to the film, but does provide momentary relief.
"Phantom" can be a treat for lovers of action films, but for the rest it will appear like a cheap contrived fiction drama.

Phantom review: Kabir Khan's 'thriller' starring Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif is super boring

There is only one explanation for Phantom: the cast and crew of the film really wanted a paid holiday. This in itself is not an objectionable aspiration. Who doesn't want to be able to bounce around London, Beirut, Chicago and other beautiful parts of the world, and get paid to do so? However, when the cost of that bouncing around is approximately Rs 55 crores and those who foot that bill expect the movie-going public to recover that amount as box office collection, things may get a little more complicated.
As an idea, Phantom crackles with possibility. Humiliated and furious after the terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2008, India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) decides to send an operative on a covert mission to teach those who plotted against India a lesson. He is a man who goes unnoticed in crowds and who has evaded Google's all-seeing eye. He doesn't care if his target has a human side or redeeming qualities — if you had any part to play in the Mumbai attacks, the phantom wants you dead.
In your head, you now see a desi super spy with Daniel Craig's cool menace, Tom Cruise's stunt-worthiness, Jason Statham's punches. What you get in Phantom is Saif Ali Khan.
Phantom_380
A still from Phantom.
As court-martialled soldier Daniyal, Khan takes the idea of a game face to a whole new level. For all of 147 minutes, he sports precisely one expression, give or take some make up and facial hair. He doesn't move as much as lumber, he is thoroughly indiscreet and everywhere he goes, he sticks out like a sore thumb. If this was because of his good looks, we'd forgive it. But Khan spends the entire film looking both awkward and impassive, as though he's got a hangover and is doing his best to block out the headache.
One can't help but feel that there was hope and a prayer governing the decision to name Katrina Kaif's character Nawaz in Phantom. Sadly, those prayers were not answered. Almost sharing a name with Nawazuddin Siddiqui doesn't ensure the transference of his acting ability. Compared to Khan's one expression, Kaif has none. Whether she's crying over lives lost or reminiscing about having tea at the Taj Mahal Hotel, there's not a hint of emotion to mar her perfect complexion and gorgeous features.
Smartly, director Kabir Khan decides to not rely upon his lead pair's charisma and acting skills to woo the audience. Instead, he takes the audience globe trotting. We begin in Mumbai, move on to Kashmir, London, Chicago, Beirut, a recreated-in-Lebanon Syria and finally land up in Pakistan. In each place, people are killed and Daniyal wrinkles his brow, possibly because he's trying to figure out how much of his beard he should trim since his facial hair changes as much as the landscape in Phantom.
When a film rests upon Khan and Kaif to hold the audience's attention, the action better be explosive and the plot, tightly-wound. The stunts aren't bad in Phantom, but they're not memorable. Still, the sounds of explosions and bullets will at least keep you awake. For the plot, there is only one word: woeful. Phantom could have been a clever film. It borrows heavily from very dramatic, real incidents that are begging to be fictionalised. Only here, the characters are badly drawn, the dialogues are clumsy, the transitions are jumpy and the politics are horribly simplified — it's as though the screenplay was written overnight. The film quickly starts feeling predictable and the strategies to kill the terrorists are not particularly gripping. It doesn't help that one of the plans requires us to watch (and hear) Daniyal doing potty.
But well before art imitates life, you have to wonder about RAW's judgement when we see Daniyal in action the first time around. With Nawaz, Daniyal is first supposed to identify a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative in a packed stadium and then, they're to discreetly follow the suspect around London. Daniyal and Nawaz's behaviour is so shifty and obviously suspicious — Daniyal's midlife-crisis-signalling leather jacket really doesn't help — that it's a wonder they weren't snapped up for questioning by the British security service.
Not only can he not blend in, Daniyal lets Nawaz (a civilian under contract with RAW) know he's going around killing Lashkar operatives. This is not necessarily the best way to keep a top-secret plot, secret. Nawaz then proceeds to get deeply involved in Daniyal's mission to avenge India. Why? Because her daddy used to take her to have tea and chocolate pastry at the Taj when she was a kid. If it's the dessert-flavoured memory that's fuelling her, it's a good thing Nawaz hasn't been back to Bombay and tasted Le 15's chocolate and salted caramel tart.
Kabir Khan also tries the standard trick of casting good actors in key supporting roles, but Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Rajesh Tailang and Zeeshan Ayyub are all wasted on characters that have been badly written. Ayyub, for instance, plays Samit Mishra, a chap who appears in the RAW director's office out of nowhere. We mean this literally. His introductory scene literally has him materialise in the middle of a meeting, on the couch in the RAW director's office, as though he's been beamed in place by Starship Enterprise. Most tragically, he doesn't even get to have chai with Nawaz despite having ventured into enemy waters to save her life.
Things finally turn a little tense in the second half of the film, when Daniyal is in Pakistan and the ISI start closing their net around him. There are a few close calls and at one point, it seems like Daniyal just might get caught after all. Unfortunately, since Daniyal might be the most bland and uncharismatic hero we've seen on screen in years, no one cares if he lives or dies. The man spends 147 minutes killing bad guys — Pakistani bad guys, no less — and the only moment when he drew cheers from the crowd was when he told a baddie called Haaris Saeed that India wants "insaf".
In case you haven't guessed, Haaris Saeed is the stand-in name for Hafiz Saeed. Evidently, his name was changed to Haaris at the last moment since when speaking of him, all the characters' lips say "Hafiz" but voices say "Haaris". Sajid Mir, the Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, doesn't enjoy that privilege. Even the photo that we're shown of him is quite similar to the photos of Mir that are in circulation.
Considering how Phantom cheerfully borrows from real life and makes no bones about ISI being in cahoots with Lashkar-e-Taiba, it isn't surprising that the film isn't being shown in Pakistan. However, considering just how much of a bore Phantom is, for once the Pakistani courts may just have done our neighbours a favour.

Saif Ali Khan on Phantom, uncle Isfandiyar: My uncle is in equal trouble for having relatives in India

Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in a still from Phantom

Set against the backdrop of the 26/11 Mumbai Attacks that shook the entire nation back in 2008, Saif Ali Khan-starrer Phantom is a fictional tale with its roots in reality. The story of a spy, who takes on the task of assassinating the mastermind behind the brutal terror attack, has received much flak from across the border, even before its release. With the theatre doors already shut for this action thriller in the neighbouring country, the Kabir Khan directorial has become the talking point not just in Pakistan, but in India as well. Meanwhile, Saif's statement that Jama'at-ud-Dawa'h (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are the real culprits behind the terror attacks has already made heads turn. And one cannot also ignore the fact that his paternal uncle Major General Isfandiyar Ali Khan Pataudi was one of the contenders to the post of the ISI chief back in 2012.
But Saif is no mood to mince words. He says that it's a reality that many people in India have families in Pakistan, and he is no different. If he can be questioned for having an uncle in Pakistan, he believes that his uncle's family is in equal trouble for having relatives in India.
"It's a complicated situation. The two countries are opposed to each other. Even during our childhood days, when my cousin and I used to play games, it was a difficult situation for us as either I had to kill him, or he had to kill me to win the battle. Even back then, we were somewhere aware of the fact that we belong to enemy countries. Everything said and done, I think I would still choose my country over any relative. I would be against anyone who is against my country," says Khan.

The 45-year-old actor adds that his father's uncle Shahryar Khan, currently the chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board, also moved to Pakistan after partition. But at the same time, he has utmost respect for his uncle who served the Pakistan government for a very long time as he believes that these men are very different from ISI. "Shahryar Khan moved to Pakistan post partition, thinking that India is not a proper place to bring up a Muslim boy. But he is a highly respected man. As a foreign secretary, he still speaks to our government. I think he is an amazing man. But ISI is something completely different," says the Agent Vinod actor.
Kabir Khan and Saif Ali Khan on the sets of Phantom
While Phantom has been banned in Pakistan on JuD chief Hafiz Saeed's plea, who called it a "filthy propaganda" against him and his country, Saif says that everyone is entitled to a defence. But at the same time, he maintains that the film is not against any religion. "Everyone is entitled to a defence. But we have seen his (Hafiz Saeed) hate speeches. He hates us. And people like Ajmal Kasab are a result of it. They are sent to India to harbour terrorist organisations. But at the same time, we know he doesn't represent the people of Pakistan. There is a part of their country which wants to promote culture and maintain good relations," adds Khan.
However, the actor is amused that Hafiz Saeed, who is unfazed by the Indian army or India as a country, has lost his night's sleep over a film. "Phantom is a mix of fact and fiction. Everyone knows who is the mastermind behind the 26/11 attacks. The way Kasab was sent to Mumbai to open fire at innocent people at the railway station and hotels, similarly in the film, we dabble with the idea of sending a guy from India to kill the person behind the bomb blasts. That is where the fantasy lies. It is an unbiased film. Most of the people involved in making the film are Indian Muslims. Our position is very clear that we are Indians first," says the actor.
In fact, Khan reveals that he did not know anything about Hafiz Saeed before he read the script of the film. He says, "I didn't know anything about Hafiz Saeed till Kabir introduced me to him. And it was appalling to hear about the brutalities he had inflicted on innocent people. Despite this, I don't think we would ever treat the subject in a jingoistic or sensational way. No one is interested in bashing Pakistan."

It's not every day that actors like Saif Ali Khan make political statements and clearly hint at the culprit behind one of the deadliest terror attacks in India. But he feels terrible that most of the times, such statements and comments are scrutinised and often blown out of proportion, and at times actors are made to apologise for their thoughts.
"It is terrible to apologise for expressing one's opinion. If our beliefs or statements are scrutinised all the time, then nothing original or heartfelt would ever be said. Even for that matter, it was sad that Salman Khan had to apologise for his comments on Yakub Memon. Even Neha Dhupia wasn't spared recently. Different people have different views. It is difficult to make everyone happy. But if you ask me, I want to stay apolitical. I don't want to exhaust myself by convincing a non-believer. In context to Hafiz Saeed, I would like to say that I was just stating a fact and not making a comment," Khan signs off.

Saif, Farhan or Abhishek - Who will replace Fawad Khan in Battle for Bittora?

Who will the Bollywood beauty choose? PHOTO: FILE

Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan who gave blockbuster film Khoobsurat, alongside Sonam, backed out of their second movie Battle for Bittora. Director Rhea is now left to decide between three other actors for the role.

Having worked with the B-Town fashionista before, Fawad didn’t seem too keen on working with the starlet again.
According to Indian Express, that’s because all three: Rhea, Sonam and Fawad were having issues with the dates. “The biggest hurdle was the timelines which couldn’t coincide. Sonam was busy in her own projects. Rhea (Kapoor) is working on another pet project called Saat Hindustani. Amidst all this, even I got involved with some work. Rest everything is all conjecture,” explained the actor.

Therefore out went Fawad and vying for the role now are Saif Ali Khan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhishek Bachchan.
Sonam and Rhea have short listed these three leading men, from who they will choose one who fits the role perfectly.
Battle for Bittora is directed by Shashanka Ghosh, and produced by Rhea Kapoor under the banner of Anil Kapoor’s film production company Anil Kapoor Films Company.

The sisters who had churned out a fairy tale love story in Khoobsurat are planning for a more intense film this time. Apparently, the film will showcase a lot of emotions and a passionate love affair.

Saif Ali Khan hopes terrorism can be wiped out

Exclusive: Saif Ali Khan hopes terrorism can be wiped out

In an exclusive interview to News Nation, Phantom’s lead actor Saif Ali Khan said such movies can act against rising terrorism and also hoped India can combat the issue soon.

Why Katrina Kaif stalled 'Indian Idol Junior' shooting

Actress Katrina Kaif, who has her roots in England, visited the set of TV show "Indian Idol Junior" along with her "Phantom" co-star Saif Ali Khan and reportedly sought stoppage of the shooting in between when she was asked to participate in a Hindi contest.

According to a source from the set, Asha Negi, who co-hosts the singing reality show along with Hussain Kuwajerwala, began the episode talking in Hindi and said "Aaj hum Hindi classes karenge" (Today we will do Hindi classes) and then she looked at Katrina and asked if she was ready for the Hindi class.

"We had started rolling the moment Katrina entered the set. Asha and Hussain were introducing one contestant and they usually have a very funny and quirky way of introducing them. Asha was playing a Hindi teacher's role and she happened to ask Katrina if she was ready for the contest. To which Katrina just had to say 'yes'," the source said.

"Instead she requested for a cut and asked for a proper brief as to what she had to say. This isn't all... she requested to be briefed going forward on whatever she had to do. A simple introduction was blown out of proportion and the shoot was stalled for 5-10 minutes," the source added.

Katrina and Saif visited the set of the Sony Entertainment Television show on August 16 on the occasion of Saif's 45th birthday. Katrina even sang the birthday song for him.

"Indian Idol Junior" is being judged by Sonakshi Sinha, Salim Merchant and Vishal Dadlani.

The episode featuring Katrina and Saif will be aired on Sunday

We want to show that Indian Muslims also feel patriotic: Saif Ali Khan on Phantom

Bollywood actor says his character of an Indian Muslim in Phantom has a crucial undercurrent.
Bollywood actor says his character of an Indian Muslim in Phantom has a crucial undercurrent.
Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan says his character of an Indian Muslim in Phantom has a crucial undercurrent because he wanted to show that Indian Muslims also feel patriotic about their country.
“We haven’t stressed much that he is an Indian Muslim, but according to me, it holds substantial importance as an undercurrent influence. Director Kabir Khan, I, and producer Sajid Nadiadwala are all Indian Muslims. So in a way, we wanted to show that Indian Muslims also feel patriotic,” the actor said speaking to IANS.

Phantom is an important film and I am looking forward to it,” he added.

When speaking about issues that the film is currently facing in Pakistan the actor said:
“Something gets banned automatically. We try and show reality in films. The world has become such a disturbed place so reality has become more interesting than fiction. It is good to have factual base, it makes things exciting.”
Focus News reported that the actor spoke about the pressures Pakistani authorities are facing regarding the release of Phantom:
“I know the censor board chief in Pakistan… he is a balanced guy and he also wants to be progressive, but he must be having his own pressures. His government might be making some laws… making things difficult, I don’t know how much control he has. But situations are not easy between two countries.
“It is not difficult to get back, we are trying to make a realistic kind of a movie on Kashmir. May be from their side they make a movie which we might ban… who knows,” he said.

Saif plays Indian Army captain Daniyal Khan in the film, which also stars Katrina Kaif.
About his character, he said: “He is terminated from the army as he is accused of cowardice. He stays in Kashmir in a depressed state, having differences with his father and others.
“After numerous attacks, RAW thinks we are not responding enough and we need to hire a crazy person to go there and attack.
“He accepts as he wants to regain his respect and prove his worth to his father. His journey in the mission and if he is successful or not is what the film is about,” he said.
Saif also said that Phantom director Kabir Khan has similarities with veteran director JP Dutta in capturing the rugged essence of the country.
“Kabir Khan is like JP Dutta sahab. I think there are no other directors who can showcase India’s ruggedness on the big screen. The manner in which the shots of Himalayas were taken or the one showing the rugged landscape of India are brilliant since he (Kabir) knows about these things and is interested too,” he said.
Read: Fakhre Alam addresses the ‘Phantom’ menace
“Every film is just like the personality of the director and Kabir’s personality is exactly like this,” he added.

JP Dutta is well-known for depicting war and turmoil in films such as Border, Refugee and LOC Kargil. Similarly, all of Kabir Khan’s films have also had themes based on terrorism, war and cross-border disputes.
Sharing his experience of working in the film, Saif said, “Kabir made me work extremely hard especially in places such as Beirut and in the Middle-East.
“When I picked up a conversation with one of the guys I was doing my action sequence with, he told me he is with the Hezbollah. Half the junior artistes and local supporting actors in the film belonged to some sort of an extremist faction. Kabir had met them somewhere, I guess. For most part of our shoot, I was just hoping no one shoots us”, he added.
The film is set to release on August 28.

Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif bat for freedom of choice

Saif Ali Khan: I love this country. People don't get bound by rules, they just get things done. There is flexibility and there's passion -- passion in movies, sports, in various areas and sections. People who have grown up here, like me, should understand that it is more important to contribute rather than complain about infrastructure and other lacunae. Everyone has a responsibility.

Katrina Kaif: It is one country where everyone is inviting and welcoming. There is so much beauty in the chaos. It seems that everything is confused and messy, but that is what makes it such a warm place. It's got the nicest atmosphere than any country I've been to. You might like some foreign countries for shopping, eating, etc, but when it comes to people, here's where I find the warmest ones.
Youth changing face of India
Saif: India is developing pretty fast, thanks to the youth. There used to be a chalta hai attitude which does not work any longer. Take fitness, for instance. Earlier, people used to be like let's have one more paratha and be fat; they didn't bother. But now they are all so health conscious, it's wonderful. All we need is freedom — the freedom of choice. I think we need to get along better. We used to be a more secular and tolerant country. But now we are becoming more polarised, whether it is with religion or other things.
That's not good. I don't like the fact that Aurangzeb Road is being renamed as Abdul Kalam Street. Aurangzeb was not a great man, but was part of our medieval history. You can't erase a part of our history just like that. We need to get back to the tolerant people we were. Our attitudes are changing and we have started banning things and that is not cool. We are the land of Kamasutra, so, perhaps, that's why they had to unban porn. It's not about wanting to do something, but about the option to choose if we want to do it or not.

Katrina: They unbanned it? That's not very cool (smiles). When we are the land of Kamasutra, why would we need porn videos?

Saif : Oh, do you know one woman in seven watches porn? What I really want to say is that we are famous for being a secular, tolerant country and we must celebrate that aspect. We are changing and that's not nice.

Katrina:
I think the youth already knows what they want. No one needs to tell them anything. They know their minds, their desires. They will follow it by the way they live and not by what they preach. They like to follow people who share their ideologies and practise what they preach.

Phantom song Saware: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s romance from Ek Tha Tiger returns to haunt this Saif Ali Khan track!

It seems Kabir Khan just can’t get over his Bajrangi Bhaijaan

We recently shared with you the audio of Saware from Phantom sung by Arijit Singh which made us fall in love again, never mind the person. It is soulful and beautifully melodious. When such is the case, we were pretty sure the visuals will make our hearts flutter. Well, it managed to interest us without doubt but we couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling of watching the same on screen once before. That’s when it struck us that it looks like an offshoot of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif‘s Saiyaara number from Ek Tha Tiger!
Now, that shouldn’t come as surprise for anyone since ETG was a Kabir Khan film and Phantom has been directed by the same man. Guess his fascination for Salman Khan doesn’t end with making a film alone. Although Arijit has done a fab job with his vocals, the visuals easily remind you of a Salman trying to place Katrina Kaif’s character in his life. Saif looks confused about the same here too.

Why Is Saif Ali Khan Insecure About Working With Shahid Kapoor In Rangoon?

For the first time, the 'Nawab' of Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan, is going to team up with his wife, Kareena Kapoor's ex-beau, Shahid Kapoor and all credit goes to Vishal Bhardwaj's upcoming project, Rangoon. As we all know, Shahid has collaborated twice with Vishal Bhardwaj, in films like, Kaminey and Haider. And when Saif was asked in an interview with DNA, whether acting with Shahid makes him insecure, he replied like this. Saif said, "I see your point, but I was actually offered this role six years ago and the script has changed a lot since then. But Vishal always wanted me in this part and I am very confident in how Vishal will treat my character." "A little bit of insecurity about other people can be healthy, but it's not something worth obsessing about. I have never been that way, but I like to be a little competitive. It gets me out of bed early and do gym, etc. I need to hype it up in my mind. If I take it easy, I will be lazy. I tend to work harder in those setups, more than the solo movies." Saif Ali Khan's positive attitude towards 'insecurity and competition' is worth an applause! Isn't it?

Eeeek! Saif Ali Khan shocks us with his style sense

Here comes the Nawab! And we decide to shift our gaze to avoid the visual pollution he creates with whatever he chooses to don! What’s wrong with Saif Ali Khan? We know for a fact that Saifu is one of the most stylish stars we have in B-town. He’s got the swagger, the spunk and till this moment we thought he had a unique style which is distinctively his own. Saifu has let us down with whatever is hanging on him. We spotted him with director Kabir Khan at the movie promotion of the duo’s forthcoming venture Phantom. Just a look at the star made us go ouch! why! why! Why? was the obvious next question asked desperately. Even though Kabir Khan looked pretty cool with his sartorial sense!
The shiny trusers pulled much over his belly, with a tee that doesn’t go with the bottoms at all! If that was not enough the shoes are horribly (mis) matched with the entire wardrobe. And now horror of all horrors. It looked like Saif was having a chat with Amitabh Bachchan in his vanity van  and hurriedly left for the promotional spree with Big B’s trademark velvety overcoat thrown over (perhaps forcefully!)
And then you have the oversized aviators mounted on his nose. Picture perfect, right! We captured the disaster with an evil smirk on our face so you know how not to dress (up)!

Mumbai terror attack mastermind, Hafiz Saeed’s decision to petition a High Court in Pakistan demanding a blanket ban of Kabir Khan’s upcoming Bollywood thriller Phantom in Pakistan and the court’s subsequent decision to hear and issue notices to the Pakistani government and their Censor board has not gone down well with the makers of the movie.
Decrying the decision of entertaining a wanted terrorist’s petition, lead actor of the movie, Saif Ali Khan said: “I find it funny. That a wanted terrorist can go to court is ridiculous.”
Reacting to the move, Saif Ali Khan said that it didn’t come as a surprise to him at all. “I expected it to be banned. It’s based on a real case of 26/11. Whenever films with such political background are made, things happen. So, I was not surprised at all.”

Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Phantom to be banned in Pakistan?

Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Phantom to be banned in Pakistan?

Jamat-ud-Dawah chief has filed a petition at Pakistani high court seeking ban on Kabir Khan’s film

Jamat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Saeed on Saturday filed a petition in the high court here seeking a ban on the release of forthcoming Bollywood movie Phantom in Pakistan alleging that it contains “filthy propaganda” against his country.
Through his advocate A K Dogar, Saeed pleaded that the Indian film has “venom against Pakistan and JuD”.

The film is about the 2008 Mumbai attack and global terrorism implicating the JuD. Filthy propaganda has been done in the film against Pakistan under subject of the world terrorism,” he alleged.
The Saif Ali Khan-starrer is to be released on August 28.
The founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba claimed that the courts in Pakistan had already rejected the accusation of the Indian government about involvement of the JuD or any of its leaders in the Mumbai attack that killed 166 people.
“I pray to the court to ban the exhibition of ‘Phantom’ in Pakistan for its anti-Pakistan content,” said Saeed on whom the US has placed a bounty of US $10 million.
Lahore High Court’s Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan fixed August 10 as the date for hearing the petition.
